About the event

Improve in-game decision-making at the club level - across all sports - by transcending mechanical thinking.

This session will be led by Jon Thorne, who brings over 40 years of expertise in understanding how the brain interprets its surroundings. Please note, Jon is not a basketball coach, and this is not a typical scrimmage; the usual rules of play do not apply. Instead, Jon will teach a unique approach to analyzing the game, aimed at enhancing in-game decision-making skills.

When players analyze a game in a way that mimics Artificial Intelligence, they wait for their coach to devise a strategic game plan to outmaneuver their rivals. Jon will give players experiences that differ from AI's approach. Players learn to perceive opponents not merely as obstacles but as limitations to their perspective. This shift allows them to navigate around these barriers and discover hidden opportunities. Teammates contribute to these revelations, creating those unforgettable wow moments. Players make better in-game decisions.

Book on @ SkillsofWow.org

We play in a 1.2.3 Wow zone.

  1. Switch off the impulse to build Lego-like pieces of skills and knowledge into a specified game plan; and
  2. Embrace a serene sense of togetherness, equilibrium, tranquility, and awareness of our surroundings, and select a micro routine of movement to initiate moving around what we see; and
  3. Take a moment to reflect on how the micro routine of movement changed what is going on around us, then select and execute another micro routine, repeating this until we move past the things around us and see something we didn't expect to see. A moment that truly wow's us. A Wow moment.

We utilize competition to inspire each other to do 1.2.3. Wow. A game becomes a platform for self-expression, where individuals utilize their unique talents, circumstances, and physical abilities to craft collaborative and memorable Wow moments. Winning or losing every Wow moment pulls us towards unseen opportunity.
