• ​You don't need to rely on athletic dominance to power past an opponent in your way - you can open and close space between yourself and your opponent to create enough time to better execute a technical skill.​
• You don't need to rely on stopping opponents from getting past by closing the space between you and a teammate - your team phases their movement through the space between opponents - generating options - to score or deny a score.
• ​You have another way of improving at an individual sport like swimming and running - by changing the spacing and timing between technical components.

​It can also help us navigate our world -  when nothing in it is making sense. We can create space and time between tasks to look for different options to accomplish the next task. This ability to pause and adjust as we go - prevents small issues from adding up to a big problem. To do this we need to keep our brains fresh and open to options. This is why we play games to heighten our spatial awareness and timing.
