Our future

Having shut down for a summer break. I wasn’t sure if I was gonna open back up again.

Despite consistently emphasizing the use of basketball to teach concepts of space and timing that apply to all areas of our lives, we keep having players insisting on playing the game how they are used to playing it. While there is nothing inherently wrong with this if we were sports coaches, it detracts from our intended focus.

I know we are adding value beyond coaching basketball.

I know we are coaching the skills of moving around what is blocking our view to see what we don’t know is there. And this is hard to explain to people who are looking for what they know they want. I want to keep coaching these skills - but with less agro.

I must be missing something in how I explain what we do.

Why the approach was not working

Sports coaching seems to heavily emphasize the creation of a very predictable setting. Consequently, when issues arise, coaches and players pinpoint the variable that deviated from expectations and address it, tackling the underlying cause. This approach involves monitoring for early signs of variables not meeting expectations and exploring innovative methods to rectify any deviations from predictions. My message focuses on our activities, which don't align with what sports coaches or players are interested in. It's no surprise that it's not effective.

Below, is the perfected explanation of what we do. It is never going to work because it’s not what sports coaches and players are paying attention to.

Sports coaches lift standards by processing skills as Lego-like pieces that players assemble into a pre-defined build. Coaching Game IQ is the opposite. It’s players seeing the space and time between Lego-like pieces of skills to adjust what they do in the unique circumstances they are in.

When players tune into assembling and moulding all the component skills into the predetermined game plan they often overlook the possibility of seeing something they didn’t know was there. They miss opportunities for effective in-game decisions to do something that makes everyone say Wow.

Through individual coaching sessions focused on Game IQ, head coaches can elevate their players' standards and enhance their capacity to generate impressive sequences of in-game choices that leave everyone amazed. By creating these wow moments, players not only win games but also increase viewer engagement.

As I read it - I think it’s great. But it is not matching to what sports coaches and players want. So, I stepped around the idea we are sports coaches. And found this.

Artificial Intelligence processes pieces of knowledge, data, and skills as Lego-like pieces that it assembles into a pre-defined build. The opposite skill set moves around these Lego-like pieces to find what we don’t know is there. Moments where we say Wow.

My Wow moment !!!!

We coach the skills where AI falls short, to thrive in a world driven by Artificial Intelligence. It coincidently helps those serious about playing sports to improve their Game-IQ.

Players are coached the skills to move around obstacles obstructing their vision, to see what they didn’t know was there. Moments that make everyone go Wow.

We are opening back up!!!
