I am just back from doing some one-on-one coaching.
As soon as they took a shot, you could see the tension in their body, I could see the cogs grinding to execute the perfect mechanics of a machine-minded shot.
I told them to focus on relaxing their feet, legs, shoulders, and arms.
Take a shot.
Feel how each part of their body felt as they took a shot.
Forget about scoring and focus on creating a relaxed relationship of flow through their body. Feel it.
Guess what?
They start to hit their shots.
They feel good.
They try to score.
The machine-minded shot comes back.
I say relax.
We are not machines.
We don't need the perfect mechanics.
The shot missing doesn't require a mechanical fix. It just needs us to relax and feel the relationship between your feet, legs, shoulders and arms. To feel flow of the shot.
We need to feel the human relationships between the parts of our bodies. And our shot comes to us.
